President Museveni Commends Guild Leaders’ Summit, Welcomes Uhuru Kenyatta to State House

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has expressed enthusiasm for the growing interest among youth leaders in the core principles championed by the National Resistance Movement (NRM). This came after a courtesy visit by former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Entebbe, on the evening of Saturday, during which the two leaders engaged in fruitful discussions.

Uhuru Kenyatta was in Uganda to attend the Guild Leaders’ Summit held at Makerere University, a key gathering aimed at nurturing visionary leadership among student guilds across the region. President Museveni warmly received his former counterpart and commended the summit’s focus on instilling strong values in the next generation of leaders.

“I was pleased to hear that these students are keen on what the NRM has been preaching,” said Museveni. “The four principles—Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-economic Transformation, and Democracy—are crucial for their prosperity.”

Museveni praised the students’ curiosity and willingness to learn, noting that such interest is a positive signal for the future of African leadership. He also welcomed the initiative led by the Guild Leadership Academy, expressing his intent to meet with the team for further discussions.

“This is a good initiative,” he said, “and I look forward to engaging directly with the Guild Leadership Academy to deepen the conversation around Africa’s growth and integration.”

The visit and the summit reflect a strengthening of regional ties and a shared vision among East African youth and leadership—a development both presidents embraced with optimism.
