Cynthia Gatugi, known professionally as Cynthia Johnson, is a versatile artist with a multifaceted career in the film industry. Her journey into the world of cinema began in high school in 2016, fuelled by a profound passion for storytelling inspired by Nigerian films. As she and her classmates engaged in narrating these films during free time, Cynthia’s fascination evolved into a resolute commitment to pursue a career in film-making upon graduating from high school.
Despite initial perceptions of film-making being effortlessly accessible, Cynthia soon realised the complexities involved in the craft. Undeterred, she founded her production, Skyart Production, during her university days. With the support of friends who doubled as actors and a financial boost from a close associate, she successfully produced her maiden feature film, “My Selfish Girlfriend,” in 2020. Subsequently, she expanded her repertoire with a short film titled “Lighten My Light” under the same production banner.
Eager to enhance her skills and collaborate with a more extensive network, Cynthia joined another production, initially serving as a communication manager. However, her unwavering commitment to personal growth led her to part ways with the company. In June 2023, Cynthia found a new home at DC MUSIC LOVE FILMS, where she assumed a leadership role in the film department.
Under great support and guidance, Cynthia recently completed her first professional feature film, “Bestfriends,” marking a significant milestone in her evolving career. With a background in media, specialising in public relations, Cynthia Johnson continues to make strides in the dynamic world of film-making, combining her artistic vision with a strategic approach to storytelling. As she navigates her career path, Cynthia remains dedicated to pushing creative boundaries and leaving an indelible mark on the cinematic landscape.
